Obscure Games - Sunday Brunch Games

Obscure Games are weekly meet-ups to play sports you've never heard of. Popular games in the past have included Circle Rules Soccer, Oblong Highball, Foxtail Drop-In, Friggat, and others. On Sunday mornings, we'll play at a different location each week, and I'll bring coffee and bagels/doughnuts for everyone. Please sigh-up so I know how much to get. Games are free, but I'd appreciate a couple of bucks to cover the costs of the food.

Obscure Games are meet-ups to play new and strange games, make up games, improve or change existing games, and to engage in good sporting fun. Last week's Sunday Brunch Games were a HUGE success, so we're back this week with more. I'll get coffee/bagels/donuts/etc for everyone, and bring a long a slew of sports equipment to play with. Games are free, but I'd appreciate a few bucks to cover the cost of food. Look to meet us by the picnic pavilion in Mellon Park at 11am.

Obscure Games are weekly meet-ups to play games most people have never heard of. If you've never been, this is the one to come to. Play/brunch starts at 11 am. We'll meet at Mellon Park again, at the pavilion near the parking lot, across from Beechwood Blvd. These will be the last games of 2009, so if you haven't played in a while, shake off your Saturday night hangover and come out to play. Games are free, but I'd appreciate a bit of money for the Brunch. Also, please let me know if you're going to come, so I'll know how much food to get.

Soccer in Polish Hill Moved to Liberty Ave!

Every Tuesday... Play starts at 7pm arrive a bit early to help setup. All skill levels welcome, its fun more than competitive. Come, hang out, play some soccer then maybe grab a pint at Church Brew Works afterwords. Its not overly aggressive so guards are optional.

Obscure Games are weekly events held (for now) at the University of Pittsburgh. There is no category for "Obscure Sports" listed on Pickupalooza (yet) and so I must warn you: we don't actually play Ultimate Frisbee. Instead, we play Circle Rules Soccer, Oblong Highball, Foxtail, Glow-in-the-Dark Box, Moving Target, or anything else we can think of (or make up). All are welcome to join us. Come dressed to get dirty, and meet at the Cathedral of Learning on the Bigelow Blvd Side.

Obscure Games!

Sunday's the Superbowl, and even though the Steelers won't win it this year, game day can still be fun. So before you eat and drink and watch football and drink, come out and play a game of your own. For those of who've never been, Obscure Games is an opportunity to play new and strange sports, sometimes invented right there on the spot. It's incredibly fun, and great exercise.
This will be the first of the new indoor games series, which will take place at the West Penn Rec Center every Sunday from 10:30 to 1:30. We'll start the session with Tchoukball, a new game that involves bouncing a volleyball off of a trampoline.
We've got a brand new facility in at 470 30th St in Polish Hill to play in, with plenty of parking and a 54C bus stop out front. There's a link to a map, and pictures of the gym on the website, www.obscuregamespgh.com
